(6 principles that will scale any business to $10M+)
1. Know Your Inputs And Outputs
Build a financial model that shows exactly what drives your profit and cash flow.
For every $1 you invest, track:
• Where it goes (marketing, product, team)
• What it generates in revenue
• How quickly it returns to you
The more financial clarity you have, the better your decisions will be.
2. Focus On Product Quality And Pricing
If you mess this up, nothing else matters.
Many founders I've coached have wasted years perfecting products nobody wants to buy.
To avoid this trap: talk to at least 10 (potential) customers before building anything new.
Product market fit is brutal binary - you either have it or you don't.
3. Market Your Product Strategically
The best product in the world means nothing if no one knows about it.
Ask every new customer: "How did you find us?" then double down on that channel.
Track source data religiously—the channel that brought your first 10 customers is where your next hundred will come from.
4. Take Care Of Your Employees
Your real job is creating the soil in which your team can thrive:
• Reward merit
• Set high standards
• Support each other
• Focus on continuous improvement
Create an environment where everyone is elevated and the best rise to the top.
5. Obsess Over Your Numbers
Track 3 metrics that matter most to your business model, not 30 vanity stats.
For most businesses that means: customer acquisition cost, lifetime value, and cash.
Check them daily, discuss them weekly, and make all major decisions based on them.
What you consistently measure inevitably improves.
6. Adjust As Needed
The market will tell you what's working - if you listen.
Set specific thresholds for when to adjust your offer, price, or target market.
Test and assess until you have a product customers love at a price everyone is thrilled about.
